The Patch Adams Health Clinic adresses how healthcare can be used as a vehicle for social change. The health of a community is as important as the health of the individual.
Produced in a group of three during the semester long comprehensive studio, this project merges the mission of Patch Adams with the interest of improving the overall health of the Tioga Community in Philadelphia. The design intent is the creation of a net zero and free community health clinic that provides supplementary methods and conveniences for fostering a healthier Tioga community. The character of this project is intended to express the playful nature of Patch Adams through the structure and design of the building and its grounds. The site is nearly 5 acres of vacant land which will provide free health care, green jobs, fresh food and an overall improved community.
